St Charles and Mary Immaculate
St Charles School enjoys an excellent relationship with the Franciscan Friars who serve the Waverley Parish. St Charles loves the visits from the Priests (complete with secret handshake!) and its community lives out it’s faith through class, grade and stage Masses and Liturgies of the Word, both at the School and in our Church. They also have Family Masses on the last Sunday of the month, to build the relationship between the School and our Parish.
Students from St Charles’ are prepared by the school to receive three Sacraments.
- Eligible Year 2 students receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
- Year 3 children are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time.
- Year 5 and 6 combine on alternate years to be Confirmed.
The religious life of St Charles’ is nourished by Mary Immaculate Parish and is life giving, reverent and integral to the Mission of the Catholic School.
Other local schools
St Clare’s College Waverley
Proudly a Catholic school established in 1884 by the Poor Clare Sisters after receiving an invitation from the Franciscan Friars in 1880, making the College one of the oldest Catholic schools in Australia. A community invigorated by the Franciscan charism and committed to maintaining our Franciscan tradition. One of the highlights of the year is the College Opening Mass at the Mary Immaculate Church here in Waverley. The girls also attend our morning mass in the Parish each month.
Waverley College and Junior College
Major events in the life of Waverley College are celebrated with a Mass or liturgy for the entire community. The boys from both Senior & Junior campus regularly attend our morning mass in the Parish each month.
