After Mass this morning in preparation to go to St Vincent’s Nursing Home Bronte I was obliged to take a RAT which unfortunately came back positive. I had taken one on Saturday morning after being on Chapter for a week with the friars in an enclosed room for most days. That test was negative, so I assumed everything was okay to proceed with the weekend Masses.
I’m am sorry to send out this news and hopefully the short amount of time I spent with anyone at Mass today will not cause any danger to you especially our younger parishioners. According to the NSW health website anyone I have come in to contact with this morning is deemed low risk.
I had brief or distanced contact with a person with COVID-19 (e.g. I dropped off shopping, or we went for a walk outdoors)
See the notice below from NSW health – *Low Risk* – Keep taking steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19, such as social distancing, regularly washing your hands, and wearing a mask if you go to crowded or poorly ventilated areas. Monitor for symptoms, and if these develop at any time, get tested for COVID-19 and self-isolate until you receive a negative result.
According to the latest information I have to isolate for at least 5 days and then continue to monitor after that. Assuming my symptoms are not too serious I will be contactable by phone and email. I thought the aches and pains in my body this morning were from some quite vigorous training at the gym over the last few day 😥
Carla will be working from home until Friday to avoid any interaction with me, so best to contact Carla with any questions etc via email.
There will be Liturgy of the Word and Holy Communion on Sunday night, Monday & Tuesday, but no Masses on Wednesday & Thursday.
Blessings + Peace, Fr Bernie
